Welcome to Jaime's Website

Monthly Tuition:

Tuition payment is due at the first lesson each month and is late after the 10th, at which point an extra $10.00 is due. A monthly reminder will be sent home, but if the student does not reach you, you are still responsible for prompt payment.

Please make checks payable to Jaime Titus. Cash is also accepted.

Absences and Illness:

If you are unable to attend your lesson at your scheduled time, I must be notified 24 hours in advance in order to reschedule. The lesson will be forfeited if notification is less than 24 hours.

In the event of illness or a death in the family, please notify me by noon that day.You will be placed on a waiting list and called when time is available.

Lessons are not cancelled due to inclement weather, even if schools are closed. A make-up lesson will be schedule if you feel you cannot reach your lesson safely.

No make-up lessons are given for doctor, dentist, orthodontist appointments, or events that can be scheduled for another time.

Lessons will not be made up for lack of practice.

Time will not be made up for arriving late to your lesson.

If I am unable to attend the lesson, a make-up lesson will be scheduled.

Only 1 make-up lesson will be given per semester for illness and/or scheduling conflict.

If you decide to discontinue lessons, please give notice one month prior to your intended last lesson.

Expectations:

Students should come to each lesson with the necessary materials: instruction books, assignment notebook, and any handouts I have provided. Flutists must have a flute that is in good working order!

All students should own a metronome, and flutists should own a tuner for practicing at home. For students who do not own a metronome, I have provided a link to an online metronome in my Links page!

Practicing:

Please keep in mind that practicing is just as important as your weekly lesson, and musical progress is best when practicing occurs on a daily basis. Expectations will be mutually agreed upon between the student and myself, but in general:

30 minute lesson = a minimum of 30 minutes daily
45 minute lesson = a minimum of 45 minutes daily
60 minute lesson = a minimum of 60 minutes daily

I do understand that students are busy with homework and other extra-curricular activities, and sometimes practicing can be difficult to fit in. But do your best to get in what you can throughout the day even on those busy weeks.

Parents will be made aware of practicing expectations in order to help monitor daily routines. I reserve the right to discontinue teaching a student if he/she fails to practice. Playing the flute or piano is meant to be fun, and the more you practice, the better you get!
