Monthly Tuition:
Tuition is due on the first lesson of each month. I will send home a tuition reminder the week before it is due, stating the appropriate amount based on any holidays or vacations that fall within that month. Payments received after the 10th of the month will be assessed an extra $5.00 per week.
Please make checks payable to Jaime Titus. Cash is also accepted.
Absences and Illness:
If you are unable to attend your lesson at your scheduled time, I must be notified 24 hours in advance in order to reschedule. If you do not call within 24 hours, the lesson is forfeited.
In the event of illness, please notify me as soon as possible.
No make-up lessons will be given for doctor, dentist, orthodontist appointments, or events that can be scheduled for another time.
Lessons will not be made up for failure to practice.
Time will not be made up for a late arrival to a lesson.
If I am unable to attend the lesson, a make-up lesson will be scheduled.
Only 2 make-up lessons will be given per 6-month period for illness and/or scheduling conflict. There are no refunds.
If you decide to quit lessons, I would appreciate one month’s notice.
Expectations:
Students should come to each lesson with the necessary materials: instruction books, assignment notebook, and any handouts I have provided. Flutists must have a flute that is in good working order!
All students should own a metronome, and flutists should own a tuner for practicing at home. For students who do not own a metronome, I have provided a link to an online metronome in my Links page!
Practicing:
Please keep in mind that practicing is just as important as your weekly lesson, and musical progress is best when practicing occurs on a daily basis. Expectations will be mutually agreed upon between the student and myself, but in general:
30 minute lesson = a minimum of 30 minutes daily
45 minute lesson = a minimum of 45 minutes daily
60 minute lesson = a minimum of 60 minutes daily
I do understand that students are busy with homework and other extra-curricular activities, and sometimes practicing can be difficult to fit in. But do your best to get in what you can throughout the day even on those busy weeks.
Parents will be made aware of practicing expectations in order to help monitor daily routines. I reserve the right to discontinue teaching a student if he/she fails to practice. Playing the flute or piano is meant to be fun, and the more you practice, the better you get!
