The information provided in this section should help you determine if taking flute or piano lessons with me will be right for you. I am a dedicated teacher and performer working to provide the very best for every student. My objective is to give each student the necessary skills to learn the flute or piano to the best of their ability while providing a positive educational and musical environment.

If you are looking to enhance your skills for band, work toward winning a competition, improve specific aspects of your playing, or have always wanted to learn to play the flute or piano, private lessons with a qualified instructor is something to consider. I enjoy working with students of all ages and all abilities. When I accept a new student, I start with your goals and proceed from there.

I have been teaching flute and piano since 1995, first in Columbia, Missouri, then Decorah, Iowa, Columbus, Ohio, and now here in Kansas City. I maintain a large private teaching studio, with students of all ages and levels, from ages 5 to adult, beginners to quite advanced. Many of my flute students participate in and receive superior ratings at district and state band auditions, as well as solo and ensemble contest. The majority of my studio is seated in the top chairs in their school band, and some have won auditions for local honor bands and youth orchestras.
